Southern Expressway, Sri Lanka

Southern Expressway starts from Kottawa and runs upto Godagama (Mathara). This will be extended upto Hambanthotga. The maximum speed os 100 km/h.

Although discussion and planning of the Southern expressway initiated long time ago major construction work started in year 2005. The first phase This expressway up to Galle was declared open on November 27th of 2011 and the second phase upto Mathara was opened for traffic on March 2014.
