Electricity supply in Sri Lanka


The voltage in Sri Lanka is 230 Volts, which is different from North American 110 Volts. The frequency of the electric current is 50 Hz.

Sri Lankan hotels and homes use 3 pin plug sockets. Old day sockets comes as 3 round pin, but most of the modern buildings has square pins.

Current power supply in Sri Lanka is stable when compared with the old days break downs and fluctuations. More than 93% of the country has electricity and western province its nearly 100%. Now the Jaffna peninsula also connected to the national grid and has 24 hour electricity supply.
