How to get Sri Lankan visa


If you are planning visit Sri Lanka for a vacation, you should obtain an VISA. This new rule was imposed from year 2012 onwards. The ETA ( Electronic Travel Authorization) system is under the authority of Department of Immigration & Emigration of Democratic Socialist Department of Sri Lanka. The citizens of Singapore, Maldives and The Republic of Seychelles not need to have visa in advanced, they can have on arrival.

How to obtain Sri Lankan visa Online:
If you are planning to visit Sri Lanka for a holiday, you can obtain 30days tourist online visa by visiting ETA site www.eta.gov.lk. You need to pay online and print the visa conformation.

Even you can obtain visa from Sri Lankan airports, but that process takes some time. So best thing is to get online visa without mush hassle. When getting visa at the airport, the payment can be made at the airport, in designated foreign currencies equivalent to the value of US Dollars. Balance will be paid in Sri Lankan Rupees only.

Sri Lankan visa fee for tourists:
Transits visa up to 48 hours will be issues free of charge.
30 day online tourist visa cist $30 as per January 2014. If your country is a member of SAARC( South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), it will be $15. If you plan to get visa on arrival, you need to pay additional $5.

Children under 12 years of age get free visa.
