Sri Lanka Air force museum is located at Ratmalana. You have to travel 1.5 km from the
Galle road, towards the airport. If you are coming by a light vehicle like car, you can
park the vehicles inside the museum premises, other wise parking space available outside
and you have to walk around 300 m. Its recommended to visit there on a week day, because
its fully crowded on Saturdays, specially on school vacation time.
On your way, First you have to register and get a pass and then only you can enter
to the premises. Ticketing counters are located by the main gate.
Sri Lanka Airforce Museum Plan
The Sri Lanka Air Force Museum was started as a Air Craft Preservation and Storage Unit in year 1993. This was upgraded as a Museum in year 2009 November. Sri Lanka Air Force museum has few major sections such as Main Hanger, Avro Simulator, Vehicle hanger, Generator House, Display of Engine Evaluation. There is a photo galary, Mini Theater and the Souvenir Shop also located here.

In the vehicle hanger, you can see the car used by later president R. Premadasa and
many other old vehicles used by Sri Lanka Air force.
Sri Lanka Air Force Museum provides many attractions for children. There are several
activities such as sliders, swings and you can climb in to some of the planes.
There is a open area near the cafeteria, you can see the LTTE plane destroyed by the air force. Thats is located in a small man made island, which can be access via a bridge.
You can buy items such as traveling bags, T-Shirts, bugs, pens and miniature models of the planes from the Souvenir Shop.
