The Entrance of Puppet Art Museum
Location & Directions :
The Pupet Art Museum of Sri lanka is located at Dehiwala, Karagampitiya Road ,
close to the Zoological Garden.
If you are coming from Galle road, take turn from William Grinding Mills Junction from
Dehiwala towards Nugegoda side, then take the first turn to right. That is the Karagampitiya
road. Museum is 150m from there, in your left hand side after passing the Dehiwala Urban Council road.
If you are coming from Zoological garden side, its around 400 meters away from there.
Ditthala Kalagola Story @ Puppet Art Museum
This Puppet Art Museum is a brain child of Mr: Sarath Abegunawardana. He is not a puppet artist, but he loves this art and wants to preserve this great traditional art to the next generation.
Madduma bandara Story @ Puppet Art Museum
There are few Galleries in this museum and all are nicely maintained. First gallery is dedicated to "Diktala Kalagola" story. We met a traditional
puppet artist call Mr Sunny over there, and he explained all the stories to us in detail. Some times he sang old folk & drama songs which makes the
stories more interesting.
Other galleries explain the stories about Madduma Bandara, Vidura Jathakaya, Wessanthara Jathakaya and Saliya Aspkamala story,
Sirisagabo Story @ Puppet Art Museum
The Puppet art Museum has a special gallery for traditional masks which were done by artists from Ambalangoda. Those masks includes King Mahasammatha ( the first king of the world), Maname masks, Daha ata Sanniya masks, Garayaka and many other.
Mask Gallary @ Puppet Art Museum
They have a mini theater where some puppet shows taken place. You can call them in advance and find out the show dates.

This museum is open for public from 9 am to 5 pm expect Mondays and public holidays. ou will be charge 50 rupees as a entrance fee. We must appreciate the owners and staff for creating this and maintaining this museum in this order. Y Currently there are some improvements and planning to attract more visitors in the coming years.
