Govinda Hela is a giant rock mountain standing up nearly 570 m above the ground, overlooking the Gal Oya region. This is located by the Siyabanduwa- Ampara main road , in Uva province of Sri Lanka.
This is considered as a place for security during the Ruhunu Kingdom time. The forest around the area is named as a protected forest, so visitor should take extra care to not disturbing the natural beauty of the area.
During the British ruling time, they have given the name Westminster Abbe, to commemorate the famous Westminister church in London.
Its believe that the ruins found in Govinda Hela area belonging to King Buwenaka Bahu era ( 6yh century AD)
